Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke on Friday alleged that BJP workers physically assaulted reporters and protesters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where his sit-in protest over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations entered its seventh day.
Dipke shared videos of the alleged incident on X and claimed that reporters and protesters were attacked in front of Delhi Police personnel. In one of the videos, a voice can be heard saying that members were being hit in front of the police. However, the authenticity of the video and the exact circumstances of the incident could not be independently verified.
Sharing one of the videos, Dipke wrote that BJP workers were physically assaulting reporters and people at Jantar Mantar. In another post, he alleged that authorities had objected even to pillows at the protest site and criticized them over the handling of paper leak issues.
The allegations come amid Dipke’s ongoing protest demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The protest is focused on alleged irregularities in competitive examinations and the NEET paper leak controversy.
Earlier in the day, Dipke marked Pradhan’s birthday in a satirical manner by writing, “Happy Birthday, Pradhan. Please resign” on a whiteboard as supporters sang the birthday song.
In a video message addressed to the Union Education Minister, Dipke said that Pradhan should resign as a birthday gift. He also claimed that protesters could send him a resignation letter and that the minister would only need to sign it.
Dipke has maintained that the protest will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns. He has also alleged that the center has not reached out for talks and claimed that protesters were being labeled as “terrorists.”
There was no immediate response from the BJP or Delhi Police to Dipke’s allegations.
The Jantar Mantar protest has continued to draw attention as students and activists raise questions over examination transparency, paper leak allegations, and accountability in the education system.
