National Highway 5 was reopened for vehicular traffic on Friday morning after a landslide blocked the road near Cholling in the Kinnaur district.
The highway had remained closed since Thursday night after heavy rain lashed the area and triggered landslides. Cholling is located around 25 km from Reckong Peo.
Authorities cleared the muck and debris from the road, allowing traffic movement to resume.
According to officials, a couple of vehicles were buried under the debris, but no casualties were reported.
Heavy rain also caused panic in Ribba village during the early hours of Friday.
The southwest monsoon entered Himachal Pradesh only a few days ago, but several parts of the state, especially Kinnaur, have already started witnessing rain-related damage.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rainfall at isolated places in Kangra and Mandi districts on Friday.
A yellow alert has also been issued for Kullu, Shimla, Sirmaur, and Una districts, warning of heavy rain at isolated locations.
Authorities have advised people to remain cautious while travelling in hilly areas and avoid unnecessary movement near landslide-prone stretches during heavy rainfall.
