Agra Police have arrested a woman for allegedly killing her husband and burying his body beneath the bathroom floor of their house.
The accused, identified as Ruby Sharma, had also filed a missing person’s complaint after her husband Surendra Sharma went missing, officials said.
Surendra Sharma, 45, had been missing for around 45 days. His body was recovered after police dug up the bathroom floor at the couple’s house in Renuka Dham Colony under Sikandra police station limits.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Amisha said Surendra was allegedly murdered by his wife. Police said Ruby buried the body beneath the bathroom floor and covered it with concrete to hide the crime.
The case came to light after police questioned Ruby during the investigation into her husband’s disappearance. During questioning and further probe, police uncovered the alleged murder and recovered the body from the house.
Ruby has been arrested and is being interrogated to establish the motive behind the killing.
A neighbor, Gaurav Dixit, said the couple often quarreled. He added that Surendra, a native of Bharatpur, had been living in Renuka Dham Colony for around nine years.
According to the neighbor, residents had repeatedly asked Ruby about Surendra’s whereabouts after he went missing, but she allegedly kept avoiding their questions.
Police said further investigation is underway.
