The Monsoon Session of Parliament will be held from July 20 to August 13, with several important bills expected to be taken up for discussion and passage.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said President Droupadi Murmu has approved the summoning of both Houses of Parliament for the Monsoon Session 2026 on the recommendation of the Government of India.
Rijiju said the session will begin on July 20 and continue till August 13 for meaningful debate, discussion, and decisions on issues of national importance.
The government is expected to bring key legislative proposals during the session, including the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill and the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill.
The Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill proposes the removal of the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, and ministers from office if they are unable to secure bail in serious offenses after 30 consecutive days of detention.
The Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill seeks to link delimitation with 33 per cent women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
The session is expected to witness detailed debate between the government and opposition on these proposed constitutional amendments and other issues of national importance.
With key bills lined up, the Monsoon Session is likely to be politically significant ahead of the next phase of legislative and electoral developments.
