India has condemned the attack on the commercial vessel GFS Galaxy off the coast of Oman, where 11 Indian nationals were reportedly on board.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, 10 Indian nationals have been rescued so far, while one Indian national remains missing.
The ministry said India’s Embassy in Oman is closely monitoring the situation.
The embassy is also coordinating with Omani authorities as search and rescue operations continue for the missing Indian national.
India strongly condemned the attack on the vessel and said all efforts are being made to ensure the safety of Indian nationals involved in the incident.
The incident took place off the coast of Oman earlier on Sunday.
Iran, meanwhile, said it had fired a warning shot that struck a vessel travelling on an unapproved route.
Further details about the circumstances of the incident are awaited.
The Ministry of External Affairs said it remains in touch with local authorities as the rescue and search operation continues.
