Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Jyoti Waghmare has approached the National Commission for Women against Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, accusing him of using abusive language and making insulting remarks against women representatives.

Waghmare has emailed a complaint to the NCW chairperson in New Delhi and sought immediate legal action against Raut. She has demanded the registration of a criminal case, alleging that his statements and conduct over the past four years warrant strict action.

Sharing details of the complaint on X, Waghmare said she had officially complained to the women’s panel over what she described as continuous abusive language, obscene profanity, and public insult of women representatives by Sanjay Raut.

In her complaint, Waghmare alleged that Raut’s remarks had damaged the political culture of Maharashtra. She said the state has a strong tradition of cultured and ideological politics, but such “extremely low-level remarks” were harming that tradition.

The complaint comes amid fresh political tension within the Shiv Sena factions. Recently, six Shiv Sena (UBT) Lok Sabha MPs formally joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, in what the ruling faction described as “Operation Tiger.”

Raut has faced criticism over his comments during the recent political turmoil within Shiv Sena (UBT). He was criticized after allegedly using abusive language while addressing rebel MPs during a press conference last week.

Responding to criticism, Raut defended his language and said it reflected common Marathi usage. He said he knew when and what language should be used and added that he was the editor of Saamna.

Raut also argued that those who betray a party should face consequences. He said action should be taken against those who leave the party after allegedly accepting money.

After six Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs joined the Shinde faction, Raut again triggered controversy by calling them “traitors.” He also made remarks targeting Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, alleging that he had “given birth to six gaddars.”

Waghmare’s complaint has added another layer to the ongoing political row between the rival Shiv Sena factions. The NCW is yet to issue an official response on the matter.
