The Cockroach Janta Party on Monday alleged that student protesters were being targeted in several states, two days after the party suspended its nationwide agitation over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak.

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das said the party had received multiple reports of students and other protesters being targeted, detained, or arrested by state agencies.

He said such reports had especially come from Assam, West Bengal, and Bihar.

In a statement issued on X, Das said the party was deeply concerned over the alleged action against protesters.

He claimed that the CJP had agreed to suspend its nationwide protest only after receiving an assurance from the government that no punitive action would be taken against any protester.

According to Das, the assurance covered protesters in BJP-ruled and NDA-ruled states, both now and in the future.

Calling the reported detentions a matter of grave concern, the CJP said its legal team was already coordinating with lawyers in the affected states.

Das said efforts were underway to secure the release of those detained and provide all possible legal assistance.

The party also urged the Centre to intervene in the matter.

It specifically called upon Union Ministers JP Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh to ensure that the assurance given to the CJP is honored.

Das demanded the immediate release of detained protesters and said no coercive or retaliatory action should be taken against any protester anywhere in the country.

He also said FIRs registered against protesters should be withdrawn.

The CJP further reminded the Centre of its commitment to provide a written guarantee by Tuesday regarding protection from punitive action.

The party said its decision to suspend the nationwide protest was taken in good faith and on the basis of the government’s assurance.

It warned that any departure from the assurance would amount to a breach of trust, not only with the CJP but also with lakhs of young Indians who chose dialogue over protest.

Das said the party expected all detainees to be released and FIRs to be withdrawn immediately and, in any case, by Tuesday.

He warned that if this was not done, the CJP would take further necessary steps.

The Centre had announced on Saturday that it had accepted several key demands raised by the CJP.

Following this, the organization suspended its 36-day nationwide protest over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination.
