The Cockroach Janta Party on Thursday announced that it will hold a peaceful march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on July 20, the opening day of the Monsoon Session.
The party said the protest will seek accountability over repeated examination failures and alleged paper leaks.
The announcement came on the 11th day of Sonam Wangchuk’s indefinite hunger strike.
Wangchuk appealed to people across the country to join the proposed march, saying Parliament is the place where students’ concerns should be heard and accountability must be sought.
CJP spokesperson Vijeta Dhaiya said the party wanted to mobilize a peaceful protest.
She said the government had not listened to their demand for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, and the protesters now wanted to move closer to the government so their voices could be heard clearly.
Addressing supporters, Wangchuk appealed to people not to limit their support to messages from home.
He urged them to come to Delhi and join the peaceful march to Parliament.
Wangchuk said the march would help ensure that people’s voices are heard at the place where laws are made.
The party said the protest would be held in memory of students who lost their lives following repeated failures of India’s examination system.
The CJP said students, parents, and citizens from across the country have been called upon to participate in the demonstration.
The organizers said they intend to place their demands before lawmakers during the march.
The planned protest is expected to add political pressure on the government over examination reforms, alleged paper leaks, and accountability in the education system.
