Prime Minister Narendra Modi will undertake a day-long visit to Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab on July 17 to launch and inaugurate development projects worth around ₹25,000 crore.
The projects are related to railways, highways, healthcare, education, and public infrastructure.
A major highlight of the visit will be the launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered passenger train between Jind and Sonipat in Haryana.
The Prime Minister will also inaugurate 75 redeveloped Amrit Bharat railway stations across the country.
PM Modi is scheduled to begin his visit from Jind in Haryana at 11 am, where he will flag off India’s first hydrogen-powered passenger train.
The 10-coach train has been developed with indigenous technology and is among the world’s longest and most powerful hydrogen-powered trains.
Powered by hydrogen fuel cells, the train will produce zero carbon emissions and emit only water vapor.
At 11.30 am, Modi will attend a program at Eklavya Stadium in Jind, where he will launch and dedicate development projects worth around ₹14,700 crore.
He will also address a public gathering.
In Haryana, the Prime Minister will dedicate Packages 1 to 5 of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, covering 157.92 km and built at a cost of around ₹9,680 crore.
He will also inaugurate the Ambala-Kala Amb Highway, which will improve connectivity between Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
The Jind-Gohana Greenfield Highway will also be opened, reducing travel time from nearly two hours to about 40 minutes.
Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Hansi-Barwala Highway upgrade.
In the railway sector, he will dedicate the Kurukshetra Elevated Railway Track, which is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve road safety.
In healthcare, the Prime Minister will dedicate Pandit Neki Ram Sharma Government Medical College in Bhiwani and Maharishi Chyawan Medical College and Rao Tula Ram Hospital in Narnaul.
He will also lay the foundation stone of a Sikh museum in Kurukshetra. The museum will showcase Sikh history, the teachings of the Gurus, and the contribution of the Sikh community to India’s heritage.
At around 1.45 pm, PM Modi will reach Chandigarh, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth over ₹4,700 crore.
At PGIMER, he will inaugurate the Advanced Mother and Child Centre, a 300-bed facility, and the Advanced Neurosciences Centre.
He will also lay the foundation stone for a 150-bed critical care block under PM-ABHIM.
In the education sector, Modi will inaugurate the Boys Hostel and Mess at Punjab Engineering College and a hostel block at Government College, Sector 46.
He will also lay the foundation stone for a research scholars’ hostel at Punjab Engineering College.
In road connectivity, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the IT City-Kurali six-lane Greenfield Highway.
He will also lay the foundation stone for the PR-7 Spur of the Ambala-Chandigarh Greenfield Highway, which will improve access to Aerocity and bypass Zirakpur.
Later, in Jalandhar, Punjab, PM Modi will launch and inaugurate rail and road projects worth over ₹5,470 crore.
He will inaugurate 75 redeveloped Amrit Bharat railway stations across 20 states. These stations have been developed at a cost of around ₹1,570 crore.
The Prime Minister will also open the Daulatpur Chowk-Kartoli rail line, improving connectivity between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
He will flag off the Kartoli-Ambala train and the Amritsar Chheharta-Varanasi train.
The Amritsar-Varanasi train will provide a direct rail link between two major religious centers.
In the highways sector, Modi will inaugurate Package 6 of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway.
He will also lay the foundation stone for the Southern Ludhiana Bypass, which is expected to ease congestion and improve freight movement.
The visit is significant as India will enter the global hydrogen rail club with the launch of its first operational hydrogen-powered passenger train.
The projects worth around ₹25,000 crore are expected to boost connectivity, healthcare, logistics, and infrastructure across North India.
The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway is expected to reduce travel time to Amritsar and Katra while promoting tourism and economic activity.
The inauguration of 75 Amrit Bharat stations will also mark another major step in the nationwide railway station redevelopment program.
