Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda on Monday launched Aarogya Setu 2.0, transforming the COVID-19 contact tracing app into a digital Personal Health Record and citizen-facing health services platform.

The revamped app has been integrated under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and will work as a single digital platform for accessing health services.

After its role during the COVID-19 pandemic ended, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology handed over Aarogya Setu to the National Health Authority for integration into India’s digital health ecosystem.

Aarogya Setu 2.0 will offer ABDM-enabled services, including ABHA creation, health record management, and a scan-and-share facility for digital registration at healthcare centers.

The app also uses artificial intelligence to digitize medical records such as lab reports in PDF or image format. It will help users create personalized health dashboards and manage their medical information digitally.

Users will be able to track health vitals, receive medication reminders, set health goals, and sync wearable devices to monitor steps, calories, heart rate, and glucose levels.

The app includes a PM-JAY wallet, which will show healthcare coverage, amount used, and family-wise consumption. It will also provide information related to the Central Armed Police Forces health policy, including covered family members and reimbursement details.

Aarogya Setu 2.0 will also display private insurance details, wallet balance, and claims information.

The app will allow users to search nearby hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, and doctors through GPS. It will also show real-time blood availability through e-RaktKosh, support ambulance booking, and help users access empaneled PM-JAY hospitals for cashless treatment.

Users can add family members under one account, manage medication schedules and control consent for sharing health records as per India’s digital health privacy framework.

Health Ministry officials said Aarogya Setu, which has nearly 20 crore downloads, is expected to boost the adoption of digital health services across the country.

Along with Aarogya Setu 2.0, Nadda also launched the Ayushman Sarathi PM-JAY WhatsApp chatbot to help beneficiaries access PM-JAY services through WhatsApp.

He also launched the Unified Health Interface, which will connect patients and healthcare providers across digital platforms, and eSushrut@Clinic, a government-backed hospital management information system developed by C-DAC for small clinics.
