All private and government educational institutions in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan and Sirmaur districts will remain closed on Friday following a heavy rain warning in the region.
Medical educational institutes and Anganwadi centers in both districts will also remain closed.
The decision was taken after the Meteorological Department issued a red alert, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall, landslides, and possible cloudburst incidents.
In view of continuous rainfall since Thursday, the Deputy Commissioners of Solan and Sirmaur declared a holiday in educational institutions as a precautionary measure.
However, staff members have been directed to report for duty.
Officials said the decision was taken after reports of landslides and road blockages emerged from several areas, disrupting normal life in the two districts.
The orders have been issued by the Deputy Commissioners under Section 30 (v) of the Disaster Management Act.
The administration has advised people to remain alert and avoid unnecessary travel in vulnerable areas during the ongoing spell of heavy rain.
