A Flipkart delivery person has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly making an obscene gesture at a woman after forcing his way into her house.
Police said the accused has been identified as Vijay Mallikarjun Kamat.
A case has been registered at Marathahalli Police Station under Crime No. 345/2026 on the basis of the woman’s complaint.
Police said the case has been filed under Sections 75, 79, and 329(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to police, legal action has been initiated against the accused, and further investigation is underway.
The incident came to public attention after an X user alleged that a Flipkart delivery executive had forced his way into a woman’s washroom and exposed himself to her.
The user tagged Bengaluru Police and demanded strict action, saying women were not safe even inside their homes.
Taking note of the post, Bengaluru City Police forwarded the complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield, for necessary action.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield Division, later confirmed on X that an FIR had been registered at Marathahalli Police Station and that the investigation was in progress.
Flipkart, in a statement, said it was deeply disturbed by the incident and was extending full support to the customer.
The company said customer safety was non-negotiable.
Flipkart said the engagement of the delivery partner involved in the incident was immediately terminated after the matter came to its attention.
The company also said it would fully cooperate with the investigating authorities.
Flipkart added that all delivery partners undergo background verification and mandatory training before onboarding.
The company said such incidents were extremely rare, but even a single such case was unacceptable.
It said the matter was being reviewed thoroughly to determine whether additional measures could further strengthen customer safety processes.
