The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Friday broke its silence on the ongoing Ram Mandir donation row and strongly condemned the alleged theft from donation boxes at the Shri Ram Lalla Temple in Ayodhya.
In its first official statement on the issue, RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale described the incident as exceptional and highly condemnable. He said all those found guilty in the investigation should face strict punishment.
Hosabale said the Ram Mandir at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi was built after generations of struggle, sacrifice, and devotion by crores of Ram devotees. He said the alleged theft had hurt the sentiments and faith of the entire Hindu society.
He said the Uttar Pradesh government had formed a Special Investigation Team following a request from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, and legal proceedings had begun on the basis of the SIT’s recommendations.
The RSS leader said it was important to ensure that the guilty are punished and that the sanctity and purity of the Ram temple are maintained.
Hosabale said the Trust must treat the incident as exceptional and take effective steps to address all shortcomings in arrangements and operations. He added that the faith of crores of devotees in the Ayodhya temple must remain unbroken.
He also said the current confusion and uncertainty surrounding the issue should end.
The RSS expressed confidence that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust would strengthen public trust through proper financial management, transparent systems, and smooth operations.
Hosabale further appealed to the Hindu society to maintain patience and restraint during this difficult time.
He also urged people to remain united and foil attempts by anti-Hindu and anti-national forces to use the incident to malign Hindu dharma and society.
The statement comes amid an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities and theft of donations linked to the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
