The Punjab BJP has said it has not received any official communication regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to the state.
The clarification came even as Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu had claimed a day earlier that the prime minister’s Punjab visit was scheduled for this month.
Speaking to the media late Friday evening, Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon said the state unit had no confirmed information or official word about Modi’s visit so far.
Bittu had said on Thursday, while reacting to the Congress organizational reshuffle in Punjab, that Prime Minister Modi was expected to visit the state this month to inaugurate several major development projects.
When asked about Bittu’s statement, Dhillon reiterated that there was no official communication from the party or the government regarding the visit.
A BJP source said the party would share an update once the visit is officially confirmed.
The differing statements have triggered political curiosity in Punjab, where any visit by the Prime Minister is expected to draw attention ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
